Please find below this weeks news headlines, available as ever from: http://www.madcornishprojectionist.co.uk/todays_news.php. Obviously the big news of the week was the UK Film Policy Review document (111 pages), which is worth reading.
Something which has caught my eye today which going through my emails is that Secret Cinema is launching a new venue - The Other Cinema. Described as: "Launching very soon is The Other Cinema, where anyone can set up their own screening. The Other Cinema will screen beautiful and vital films in a mix of non-traditional venues around the world, bringing back a sense of community and wonder to the cinema experience." I want a refund: Cinema-goers lodge complaints about The Artist after not realising it has no dialogue - It celebrates Hollywood before the dawn of the 'talkies' and has brought the wonder of silent movies to new generations. But it seems some cinema-goers that have been left unimpressed with The Artist, despite the film winning three Golden Globes and tipped for scores more. Odeon Cinemas confirmed that some people have demanded a refund because they were unaware the production was a silent film.

The Travelling Light is nice little story which is about the beginnings of motion pictures and includes a magic lantern on stage. It is worth trying to get to if you get the chance, and while it is at the National Theatre at the moment it is going on tour.
