Film Council axemen could murder an industry - It was nothing short of a hammer blow. This morning, word came through of John Woodward's email to UK Film Council staff informing them that the government was planning to shut them down. Then the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) confirmed it in a written statement at lunchtime. I was genuinely shocked. It felt like I'd nipped out for 10 minutes to get a pie and while I was out they closed the British film industry.

First Digital Cinema Drive-In Movie Theatre in the Country Selects Barco - Barco, the global leader in digital cinema technology, announced today that it has deployed its digital cinema projectors at Spud Drive In, making the venue the first "true" digital drive-in in America. While other outdoor theatres have utilized digital projectors to show DVDs to large outdoor audiences, Spud is the only drive-in to date to actually employ digital cinema projection and surround sound audio, with 3D technology planned for August showings.
