CONCERT FOR CARE GALA FILM SCREENING: A rare opportunity to see Hitchcock's seminal classic on one of the biggest and best screens in the UK, the Empire Leicester Square. Released in 1960, Psycho changed cinema forever, pushing the boundaries of screen horror and providing some of the best-known scenes in all movies.

This screening forms part of David Arnold's Concert for CARE, a major event at the Royal Albert Hall on October 18th featuring some of the biggest names in film music. Many of the composers, including David Arnold, John Ottman, Harry Gregson-Williams, John Powell, George Fenton, Rachel Portman and Dario Marianelli will also attend the Psycho screening and will take part in an exclusive Q&A on film scoring following the Psycho screening.

TICKETS PRICED AT £20. All proceeds from the sale of tickets will go direct to CARE International.

Drive-Ins Enter the Digital Age - For more than half a century, the Spud Drive-In has been a local landmark in Diggs, Idaho. Last month, with screenings of Despicable Me and Robin Hood, it became America?s first true digital drive-in. While other outdoor theatres have used digital projectors to show DVDs to large outdoor audiences, Spud is the only drive-in to date to actually employ digital cinema projection and surround sound audio. They plan to install 3D technology this month.

UGC staff stage partial strike over digital cinema plans - Some staff at French cinema circuit UGC went on strike in July over plans by the circuit's management to cut 95 projectionist jobs out of a total of 215 (44.2 per cent) as it converts to digital technology.

PROFITS COME ALIVE WITH BOOST IN 3D FILM - TODAY?S interim results from Cineworld will be essential viewing with the cinema chain set to post a decent performance helped by good revenues from popular 3D films, including Avatar and Toy Story 3. In spite of the negative impact of the World Cup, which kept people away from the big screen, along with the spell of good weather in May and June, analysts expect revenues to increase by 4 per cent in the first half of this year.

Its Cineworld for Movie-Man - Gary Stevens, former Director of the Central Cinema in Fakenham is to become the new General Manager of Cineworld in Didcot Oxfordshire (UK). Stevens will take over from the current GM in September.

“I am excited by this new challenge which will give me the opportunity to build on the good reputation the cinema already has in the town” said Gary “Cineworld is a leading company brand and I look foreword to working with the team at Didcot”.

Gary has worked with various independent cinema operators throughout the UK including launching Apollo Cinemas first shopping Centre development based in Redditch
