Ars Alliance signs first VPF agreement for Latin America - European digital cinema services and distribution group Arts Alliance Media (AAM) has signed the first VPF agreement for digital roll-out in Latin America with Sony Pictures. Countries covered under the deal are Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Peru and Ecuador. Arts Alliance has experience of being a frontrunner in a region, as it also signed the first European VPF deals paving the way for a roll-out of around 2,300 screens installed to date.

ODEON becomes the first cinema chain to retain the Carbon Trust Standardl - ODEON has been recertified with the Carbon Trust Standard for successfully measuring, managing and reducing carbon emissions in their chain of cinemas across the UK and Ireland. ODEON has reduced carbon emissions by over 10% in the past five years.

Drive-in cinema operators plan to set up in the capital - THE operators of Ireland's only drive-in cinema, which is located in Cork, are planning a similar venture in the capital. Stephen Redmond, whose company is Movie Junction, plans to use what was a car-storage compound at Dublin Port for a two-screen cinema.

Wings, the only silent film to have won best picture before The Artist's triumph this February, has been fully restored ahead of a limited release.

Odeon and Travelodge sign up to be part of Great Yarmouth's large casino complex- It was announced last Friday that Pleasure Beach boss Albert Jones had won the town's large casino licence after a five-year battle. The £35m project, The Edge, will see a large casino, hotel, restaurants, multi-screen cinema and 600-space car park built South Beach Parade between the Pleasure Beach and the Outer Harbour. Travelodge and Odeon have already signed up to be a part of the project.
